The first image is of our under construction Central Design Atelier in Leh. The land for this was purchased by pooling in all our resources - sales revenue of the cooperative, the management and office bearers team went on half salaries for some time voluntarily, my school and college scholarship savings. We did not have a quality control atelier for our decentralised production centres. We were working in a rented small space. Hence, we had to take the step. The construction work took much of my planning focus last year. We are grateful to ICICI Bank and EGF for stepping in. However, we could realise our business financial projection for year 2022-23. We plan to upscale our decentralised production and skills of the members this year to keep our financial projections on track. I am grateful to AWWA Ladakh to have provided us a centre for quality control in Leh. Only few people are able to understand why such initiatives need to move beyond project or event mindset and think like businesses for real outcomes. I am grateful that I found the GOC, COS 14 Corps and Col. Veteran Pankaj Sinha who were equally passionate and supportive about what I was proposing to them. This year Looms of Ladakh is coming up with it's next step for building the 'producer owned luxury brand with decentralised production centres'. We are grateful to the universe.
